WP's High-speed Camera AVIs - High-speed Clips

 

Preface

Each of the sequences shown here is from the early to the middle 1990s. They were made with SpeedCam +500 (also Camsys +500) and SpeedCam PRO systems of the companies Mikromak, Weinberger and the Fraunhofer Institute IIS-A. Those marked with WP were made on the fly in the cellar at home during a rainy weekend in March 1995.

Due to the huge size of the original files, unfortunately it wasn't to avoid to cut the sequences, to resize their resolution and to compress them. Therefore the sequences shown here are of considerable lower quality and format compared with the original ones.
Because a lot of sequences are classified some funny, self-made ones have found their place here. Of course, in the meantime many more sequences even with higher resolution are available in the Internet.

Essential for viewing the following sequences: You need either the DivX 5.0.2 codec or the (Intel) Indeo 5.11 codec. If not even Indeo is part of your installation - more about the topics AVI player and codec (and download sources as well) you will find in the download center [D-Load] of this site, refer to the button on the left.

Here two short and simple tests (less than 4 KB each) whether the codecs are available on your PC: Indeo?, DivX?. If it is successful, you will see an appropriate image.

 

Sample sequences of some digital high-speed camera systems

Each hyperlink in the replay data column will load the corresponding AVI file. It will be played either by a suitable player device, preferred, or directly by a plug-in of your browser. Please take notice of the file sizes displayed - some loading operations might last a little while. You will find details in the editorial at the end of the table.

Editorial

Expression exposure means the time of exposure of a single frame. Usually it is approx. 1/frame rate. It can be reduced in increments to 1/10 000 sec with an additional LC shutter (liquid crystal).
